I yanked this out of the comments on the below post and am putting it here for those who just glance at the page:

Looks like Sheffield plans to play through the injury and will be back in the lineup later this week:
Right fielder will not need surgery
It's obviously something to keep an eye on, though. And Sheffield should probably think twice before making any headfirst slides on the basepaths or in the outfield.
Scott replies:
Well, that negates a lot of what I said. Still, there will be lingering effects. He's going to tweak it several times during the season. Maybe he'll be restricted to DH duties for a while. This will cause problems.
