A Minor Setback
Mets reassign Kazmir to minor league camp
As expected, the Mets today reassigned Scott Kazmir to their minor league camp. His brief appearance in the Mets' major league camp served its purpose of giving him some time around veterans whose brains he could pick, but now it's time for him to get some real innings in and prepare for the upcoming season which is something he really wasn't getting a chance to do while in camp with the Mets.
Kazmir was neither surprised, nor disappointed with the move. In fact, he expected it.
"I knew it was going to happen quick," Kazmir said. "I'm all right. I'm not getting the innings and it just wasn't my time to be here. I've learned so many things, though, looking at [Tom] Glavine, [Al] Leiter and [John] Franco. I've learned to prep for everything and it's helped out a lot."
Strickland mentally ready
Mets.com also has a piece up about Scott Strickland's recovery from Tommy John surgery. There are also notes about the hamstring injury to Tyler Yates, a meeting between Braden Looper and Jack McKeon to clear the air and an especially funny note about how Jose Reyes busted a window on the infamous Hummer belonging to Karim Garcia with a foul ball in batting practice today.
